The process

What happens once you file a claim.

Four steps, in this order, framed by the Act respecting the collection of certain debts. You see the current step on every file.

  1. Step 1

    Written notice

It gives the debtor a deadline to pay or respond, and follows the model prescribed by the government.

  2. Step 2

    First contact

The debtor is reached by phone to assess their willingness and ability to pay.

  3. Step 3

    Payment or agreement

Collection of the full balance, or a payment agreement matched to the debtor's actual capacity.

  4. Step 4

    Active collection

If the debtor refuses, efforts step up and the debt is reported to their credit file.

Credit bureaus

An unpaid debt weighs on the credit file.

We are registered with the Canadian credit bureaus. That registration reflects our compliance with regulatory requirements and our commitment to the strictest standards in the industry. For you it changes the balance: a debtor who refuses to pay sees the debt appear on their file.

Effect on the file

Debtor's credit score

The score carries it for as long as the debt goes unpaid. That is often what unlocks an agreement.

Transparent and ethical handling of every file.

When the file goes further

Collection does not stop at a phone call.

A debtor you cannot find, a judgment to enforce, a client to check before extending credit: all three run from the same account.

Compliance

A framed process, from the first call to the last.

Every contact attempt has its purpose. Combined, they reach the debtor through several channels while leaving room to settle voluntarily before stricter measures are considered.

Privacy and the protection of personal information are respected at every step.
